Casa Azul De Wilson

Casa Azul de Wilson is dedicated to create cultural programming in Wilson because we believe that these spaces are essential to foster self love and celebration of our complex bicultural identities. Culture has the power to connect many people on a deeper and collective level where we connect through music, art, foods, and traditions. Our programming is healing intergenerational groups of an entire community. Children are seeing themselves reflected in a positive way through artwork, young adults are healing their inner children and elders are connecting with their native culture that they left behind when they came to this country in search of a better life.

FESTIVAL DE VERANO

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS

LATINX HERITAGE
MONTH

ME SIENTO MUY
EXCITED FESTIVAL

Me Siento Muy Excited Festival

Casa Azul de Wilson created this festival to honor the legendary Mexican American singer, Selena Quintanilla. The festival’s name is deeply symbolic of our shared experiences as bicultural and bilingual sons and daughters of immigrants.

In the movie Selena, there’s a memorable scene where Selena gives her first interview in Mexico. When asked about her upcoming performance, she struggles to find the right words in Spanish and nervously says, “Me siento muy… excited!” This moment resonates with many of us who have often found ourselves speaking in Spanglish, caught between our two identities.

Through this festival, Casa Azul de Wilson celebrates our bicultural experiences by honoring Selena, our first bicultural icon, who continues to inspire generations of Latinx individuals navigating the beautiful complexity of living between two cultures.
